Devotional

Verse: Song of Songs 8:5 (ESV)

Thought for the Day:
God’s hand is always extended for us to draw close to Him.

Devotional:
Wrist, elbow, shoulder. I placed my hand on my partner’s shoulder, barely touching him. This was my first waltz class and I was nervous.

“You can place more pressure on my shoulder, however much you need to follow me.” he said.

As my partner led in the one-two-three steps, I rested my hand more firmly on his shoulder. Rather than guessing where he was going next and fumbling over my feet, I became sensitive to his lightest touch directing my steps. We waltzed around the room. It was pure bliss.

The Lord is our perfect partner. We don’t need to be timid, we can be bold and confidently approach God. He not only delights in us when we draw near to Him, He promises to draw nearer to us. He loves when we trust Him with all our hearts and hold onto Him.

The Lord is our perfect leader. Just as my partner made sure we didn’t bump into other people or furniture, how much more does the Lord faithfully lead and protect us. When we stay close to Him, we have His peace and joy. We know immediately when are out of step with His Word and will. When we follow Him, we know He will always deliver us from harm.

The Lord is our beloved Bridegroom. May we be followers that love Him, lean on Him, and are sensitive to His leading. Whenever we do, it will always be pure bliss in His arms and presence.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for your perfect leadership, strong partnership, and loving embrace. I trust You and will follow Your lead. Amen.
